Dolce And Gabbana Celebrated Its New Milan Store With An Italian Supper
In the midst of Milan Fashion Week, Dolce & Gabbana celebrated the opening of its Via della Spiga 2 boutique.
In its architecture and design, the flagship captures the brand’s grandeur and whimsy. Founded by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabanna in 1985, the house remains synonymous with the most luxurious and decadent notions of Italian style.
Marble colonnades and gilded mirrors glitter throughout the three stories, connected by a dramatic black staircase. Each corner, whether classical or contemporary, stuns and surprises. The Italian spirit saturates the space.
Lacquered wood and silver benches suggest Fellini’s glamour and creates the type of dressing room in which stars like Sophia Loren and Anita Ekberg would gown themselves. The baroque credenzas and gold thrones recall an earlier generation of women, like Lucrezia Borgia and Isabella d’Este, who plotted and posed under painted ceilings. In its grandest areas, where Corinthian columns erupt and red marble dominates, the space transforms into a temple to Venus, the original Italian beauty.
The soirée matched the splendor of the venue. Red and pink roses adorned the table, atop which silver candelabras gleamed. Breads and cheese were piled onto swirling platters, and fine wines flowed into cut crystal. The evening conjured decadent femininity as only Dolce & Gabbana can.
