The engagement ring that Napoleon gave to Josephine - Luxury Retail
The engagement ring given by Napoleon Bonaparte to his future wife, Joséphine de Beauharnais, was auctioned on 24 March.
The auction took place at the headquarters of Osenat in Fontainebleau (Paris).
It is a ring type “You and I” gold set with a sapphire and diamond pear shaped size. It is believed that Napoleon gave out this ring to Josephine on February 24, 1796, the day he was officially announced their engagement.
This ring with a historic and emotional sold for seven hundred and thirty-eight thousand euros. Napoleon’s story continues to inspire many jewelers, especially joaillerie la maison de Chaumet because, not surprisingly, were named Jewelers of the Emperor during his reign.
