“LAGERFELD: THE CHANEL SHOWS”

Karl Lagerfeld Exhibition at The Four Seasons

The life and work of the late Karl Lagerfeld is celebrated in a series of photographs by British artist Simon Procter, on display in London.

Karl Lagerfeld once said the ideas for his fashion show set designs came to him in his sleep, and those produced during his time at the helm of Chanel were certainly dreamlike.

From snowy mountain peaks to a sun-dappled Mediterranean villa, Chanel’s epic runway shows have often been as striking as the clothes themselves.

The late designer’s most monumental sets will be the subject of an exciting new exhibition by British photographer Simon Procter, who was given unprecedented access to the fashion house during Lagerfeld’s reign.

Art Photo Expo and Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square present Lagerfeld: The Chanel Shows, an exhibition of photographs celebrating the life and work of the creative director, who worked at the Parisian brand for 46 years.

For more than a decade, Procter, who was one of the designer’s most trusted documentary photographers, captured the energy and essence of Chanel’s fantastical fashion shows, from ambitious set designs to behind-the-scenes moments between Lagerfeld and his team.

Following the designer’s death in February last year, publisher Rizzoli released a book of Procter’s backstage images, which were exhibited for the first time in September 2019 during Paris Fashion Week. Now, these large-scale photographs will go on display in the Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square’s Rotunda Bar & Lounge.

Chanel supermarkets, luscious forests and rocket ship stages will sit alongside candid snaps of the designer himself, as well as collage pictures created by Procter to create an impression of the atmosphere at each show.

Alongside the main exhibition, a selection of limited edition artworks will be available to view and purchase in the hotel’s gallery, with prices starting from £5,500.

Running until June 30, 2020, visitors can also enjoy The Runway Afternoon Tea inspired by Lagerfeld: The Chanel Shows by Simon Procter and a cocktail crafted by Director of Mixology Harry Nikolaou in celebration of the exhibition.
