Orient Express Launches a New Pop-Up with Michelin-Star Chef Guy Martin
The iconic Oriental Express breathes new life into its luxe coaches with an exclusive association with Michelin-Star chef Guy Martin. The luxury train will have a pop-up restaurant for its esteemed guests on board.
Luxury travel company Belmond’s Venice Simplon-Orient-Express won’t just be plying passengers across France on the usual route; it will, in fact, offer a ride through nostalgia with this new project. Michelin-Star chef and director of Le Grand Vefour Restaurant in Paris, Guy Martin, will introduce a gourmet menu that is healthy and light. His specialty dishes that are easy on the palate and stomach will blend beautifully with the opulent art-deco carriages of the train.
Chef Martin gives traditional dishes a contemporary edge using fresh, light and interesting ingredients. The dishes include John Dory fillet served with celeriac purée, cumin-infused zucchini or lobster medallions served on a bed of gnocchi and Oscietre Caviar. The elaborate menu will also serve Charolais of Beef paired with truffle, broccoli purée and hazelnut oil, which is the signature dish of Oriental Express’ Executive Head Chef Bodiguel.
Commenting on the collaboration, Pascal Deyrolle, General Manager for Oriental Express, said, “We are thrilled to be working with Guy Martin on this special partnership. Our onboard team of expert chefs share his passion of adding new modern touches to conventional dishes and we are looking forward to offering guests a new culinary experience aboard the world’s most famous train this spring.”
The train will take a short trip from Paris to Venice with new dishes available throughout spring. This exclusive experience could roughly cost you £2,210
