The Sanchaya Bintan

The Sanchaya Bintan: Your Own Private Island Experience

Opened in 2014, the luxury resort boasts 21 lavish villas and 9 suites, bringing together some of the finest interior furnishings and relaxing atmospheres for an experience close to almost having your own private island vacation.

With its overall vibe inspired by European Salons of the 19th century, the common areas such as the Dining Room, Library and Bar meld Southeast Asia’s rich history and culture with an old-school European intricacy, as seen in the artwork featured, interiors and antiques.

The Sanchaya: Experience Bintan’s Luxury Sanctuary

“I felt it only natural to bring the two things I’m most passionate about together – the arts and The Sanchaya. Bintan is a tranquil respite from the city, yet is so easily accessible for international travellers, so we’ve really enjoyed using the estate as a convenient hub from which to amplify the global film and arts scene.” – Natalya Pavchinskaya, Founder of The Sanchaya.

The resort has also won a number of awards including the Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2017 “Top Resorts in Asia” category.

The suites and villas boast with king-sized beds and come with its own separate living area complete with sofa and armchairs. Bathrooms are fitted with Lefroy Brooks clawfoot bathtubs and showers, along with luxurious Aesop bath amenities and fluffy towels. Bang and Olufsen sound systems are equipped in all suites and villas, with an iPad full of pre-loaded movies for guests to enjoy on the big tv in the room, along with treats from the complimentary ‘maxi bar’.

The Sanchaya is also home to two dining experiences- The Dining Room and The Tasanee Grill.

The Dining Room serves up contemporary European and Indonesian cuisine, and is a great place to enjoy a relaxing brunch with a glass of wine from their impressive wine list. Enjoy the picture-perfect beach view while you enjoy an alfresco dinner at The Tasanee Grill. Specializing in authentic Thai dishes inspired by street food from Bangkok, they also serve up light refreshments by the pool, should you be feeling peckish after a dip in the Olympic-sized infinity pool.

Enjoy a lazy day by the resort’s private beach or indulge in some fun-filled activities such as BloKart Sailing, Yoga, Archery and Croquet. The Sanchaya also offers free bike rentals, perfect for a ride around the lagoon.

Indulge in a wellness and Spa experience unlike any other at The Sanchaya. The resort’s Balinese-inpired spa houses couples’ treatment rooms, verandas for reflexology and outdoor pavilions suitable for Thai massages, alongside luxury spa treatments featuring traditional aromatherapy, customised Chakra oils, herbal teas and the Kawasaki Way Treatment.

As part of The Sanchaya’s initiative to support the creative and arts industry, the resort has collaborated with one of the most prominent contemporary artists in Southeast Asia, Kumari Nahappan, they have unveiled two permanent installations titled “The Guardian Angel”- which flanks the entrance to the resort, as well as the “Saga Seeds”-first seen at the Venice Biennale’s ANIMA MUNDI International Arts Festival, it has now found a home at the resort, with some 30 red fibreglass seeds peppering the estate.

In addition to the installations, The Sanchaya has also completed its first artist-in-residence program, held a film investment summit, as well as invited top classical musicians to perform at the estate.
